We meet at Muscat International Airport around midday before departing to Jebel Shams.

Based at Sunrise Resort, we focus on:

These days allow us to fully explore and refine compositions in one of Oman’s most photogenic high-altitude regions.

Day 3 – Transfer to Al Khaluf Beach

We descend from the mountains and make our way to the remote coast of Al Khaluf.
Arrival is typically later in the day, so the focus is on:

  • Night photography

  • Shooting stars over the surreal white dunes and turquoise shoreline

Days 4 & 5 – Masirah Island

We take the ferry across to Masirah Island, one of Oman’s most untouched locations.

Highlights:

  • Two different shipwrecks (one per night)

  • Astro sessions in complete isolation

  • Optional bioluminescence if conditions align

Day 6 – Return to Al Khaluf (Sugar Dunes)

We return to the mainland and stay near the Sugar Dunes for:

  • Sunset over Sugar Dunes

  • Another opportunity for night photography in a unique coastal desert setting

Day 7 – Rock Garden Duqm

We continue south to Duqm, stopping at the fascinating Rock Garden:

  • Sculptural limestone formations

  • Ideal for creative sunset compositions and night work

Days 8–12 – Salalah Exploration

This is fully dedicated to exploration and discovery.

We will:

  • Search for bottle trees reminiscent of Socotra

  • Photograph iconic baobab trees

  • Visit waterfalls and hidden landscapes

  • Explore Gravity Hill and other unique phenomena

These days are dynamic:

  • We scout during the day

  • I select the strongest locations for sunset and night sky based on conditions

This is where the trip becomes a true expedition—focused on finding new compositions and unique scenes.

Day 13 – Departure

Drop-off at Salalah Airport.
From here, you can take a short domestic flight back to Muscat for your international connection home.

Benjamin Barakat

I am your host and guide on this tour.

After receiving a full introduction on the first day to Astrophotography, I will then prepare you with the knowledge and tools to go out and capture stunning nightscape and landscape photos just like mine.

In the following days, you will shadow me and try to take the exact same compositions as me in order to learn the workflow and the correct way to capture your images.

Alternatively, you are free to roam the beautiful landscapes around us and capture your own images where I would then come follow up, give tips, and also my feedback.

We will also be doing landscape, sunset/sunrise photography and so on.
